Softball Recap: Westminster Triumphs

After losing to Mt. Hebron the last time they met, Westminster decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Owls walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Vikings on Monday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Owls.

Lila Moxley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ellie Rorke, who went 2-for-3 with two triples and two RBI. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. Danny Wilder was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Westminster kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in ten consecutive games.

The win got Westminster back to even at 9-9. As for Mt. Hebron, with the loss, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-2.

As of now, neither Westminster nor the Vikings have any future games scheduled.
