Basketball Recap: Grant Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Grant duked it out withWossman on Friday. The Grant Cougars were dealt a 94-44 loss at the hands of the Wossman Wildcats. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 333rd, while the Wildcats are ranked ninth).

When it comes to explaining why Grant lost, don't look at A Sykes. Despite the final result, he went 6 for 13 on his way to 20 points and seven boards. That was a full 45.5% of Grant's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. L Fletcher was another key player, putting up seven points.

Grant's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-14. As for Wossman, their victory bumped their record up to 18-6.

Grant wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 51-39 loss against Rapides on the 27th. Wossman has also already played their next contest, a 77-63 win against Neville on the 27th.
