Basketball Recap: Eagle Mustangs vs. Rigby Trojans
Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Eagle couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell just short of the Rigby Trojans by a score of 56-53 on Friday. The Mustangs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Trojans earlier this season, when they won 55-40.
Despite the loss, Eagle saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Berkley Jones dropped a double-double with 18 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Porter Wood, who posted 12 points and six boards.
Even though they lost, Eagle was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. This was only their fourth loss (out of 22 games) when they've passed the ball that well.
Eagle is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 19-7. As for Rigby, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season.
Eagle does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Rigby, they have already played their next match, a 56-50 defeat against Borah on the 22nd.
