Softball Game Preview: Carbon Hill Bulldogs vs. Oak Mountain Eagles

The Carbon Hill Bulldogs will take on the Oak Mountain Eagles in a tournament on Saturday. Carbon Hill is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.

Friday just wasn't the day for Carbon Hill's offense. They fell 5-0 to Sumiton Christian on Friday.

Carbon Hill saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cam Goolsby, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double. Those hits marked the first that Goolsby got this season.

Meanwhile, Oak Mountain earned a 5-1 win over Cordova on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.

Kelsey Crain looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Sheridan Andrews was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February.

Oak Mountain was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .381. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cordova only posted a batting average of .200.

Oak Mountain's record is now 13-11. As for Carbon Hill, their loss dropped their record down to 9-13.

Carbon Hill couldn't quite get it done against Oak Mountain when the teams last played back in April of 2015 as they fell 8-3. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
