Basketball Game Preview: Central City Bison vs. Wilber-Clatonia Wolverines

The Central City Bison will take on the Wilber-Clatonia Wolverines in a tournament on Saturday. Wilber-Clatonia took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Central City, who comes in off a win.

Last Saturday, Central City was able to grind out a solid victory over Cross County, taking the game 37-27. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bison.

Central City relied on the efforts of Journi Schindler, who went 7 for 12 on her way to 18 points and five steals, and Sydni Homolka, who posted seven points in addition to five boards and five steals. The dominant performance gave Homolka a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Reagan Fousek, who put up seven points.

Meanwhile, Wilber-Clatonia was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss dating back to last season. They took a blow against Fillmore Central, falling 54-22.

Central City's win was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.5 points per game. As for Wilber-Clatonia, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.

Central City strolled past Wilber-Clatonia when the teams last played back in December of 2023 by a score of 42-25. The rematch might be a little tougher for Central City since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
