Recap: Ellis Railroaders vs. Plainville Cardinals
The Ellis Railroaders were the 39-26 winner over the Plainville Cardinals when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Ellis was just a bucket shy of victory on Tuesday and fell 53-52 to Plainville. Ellis has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the defeat, Ellis saw an underclassman step up: Aiden Aschenbrenner scored 21 points along with two steals. Aschenbrenner is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Toby Honas was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven rebounds.
Ellis' loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Plainville, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.
Ellis will take on Thomas More Prep-Marian at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Plainville, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Norton at 4:30 p.m. Norton is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
