Volleyball Recap: Siloam Springs Gets the Win

Siloam Springs proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by three) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Van Buren Pointers 3-2. This was a revenge game for the Panthers: when they faced off against the Pointers back in September, they had to take a 3-2 defeat.

Siloam Springs had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 21-25, 22-25, 25-10, 28-26, 15-7.

Erika Ellis paced Siloam Springs' offense, picking up 24 kills. Ellis got some help from Haley Thomas and her 46 assists. Ellis also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Isabel Suarez, each putting up three.

Despite the loss, Van Buren still got an impressive performance from Isabella Peters, who had 15 digs and three aces.

Siloam Springs is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-10 record this season. As for Van Buren, their loss dropped their record down to 13-7-1.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Siloam Springs is set to square off against their familiar foe Alma at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Van Buren will face off against rival Russellville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
