Softball Recap: Eight Straight Home Victories for Dan River

While Dan River's win against Bassett wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Wildcats skirted past the Bengals 9-8. The victory was nothing new for the Wildcats as they're now sitting on three straight.

Taylor Barts was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Bayleigh Merricks, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Dan River pushed their record up to 7-4 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. As for Bassett, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

Dan River and Bassett could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings. The Wildcats (ranked 139th) will meet Appomattox County (ranked 41st) at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Bassett will take on Floyd County at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank disadvantage (281 vs. 136).
