Soccer Game Preview: Pioneer vs. Branham

The Pioneer Mustangs will head out on the road to challenge the Branham Bruins at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Pioneer's last five games have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Pioneer's defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They won by a goal and slipped past Leigh 1-0. The win was all the more spectacular given the Mustangs' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 158th, while the Longhorns are ranked seventh).

Pioneer's one-goal win came courtesy of Destini Twiggs, who's now up to 12 this season.

Meanwhile, Branham's game on Thursday was all tied up 0-0 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They had just enough and edged Gilroy out 1-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bruins.

Branham's victory bumped their record up to 12-2-4. As for Pioneer, their win bumped their record up to 11-2-3.
