Baseball Game Preview: Woodrow Wilson Bruins vs. Warren Bears

The Woodrow Wilson Bruins will square off against the Warren Bears at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Woodrow Wilson has five straight victories, Warren has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Woodrow Wilson's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Cabrillo by a score of 5-0.

Jaaden Romero tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jax Core and Nathaniel Parris did most of the damage at the plate: Core scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3, while Parris scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases Core has posted since back in March.

Meanwhile, Warren came up short against La Mirada on Thursday and fell 8-3.

Woodrow Wilson's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-6. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games. As for Warren, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-6.

Woodrow Wilson suffered a grim 11-0 defeat to Warren when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Bruins avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
