Football Game Preview: Sioux Valley Cossacks vs. Parker Pheasants

The Sioux Valley Cossacks will square off against the Parker Pheasants at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Sioux Valley is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of South Dakota's top teams: Elk Point-Jefferson, who was ranked ninth at the time (Sioux Valley was ranked 24th). The Cossacks took a hard 41-26 fall against the Huskies on Friday. The Cossacks were down 27-6 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Meanwhile, Parker hadn't done well against Bridgewater/Emery/Ethan recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Pheasants secured a 34-28 W over the Seahawks. The Pheasants' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Parker's record is now 5-3. As for Sioux Valley, their defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 4-4.

Everything came up roses for Sioux Valley against Parker in their previous meeting back in September of 2021, as the squad secured a 36-0 victory. Will the Cossacks repeat their success, or do the Pheasants have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
