Softball Recap: Fellowship Academy Sets Scoring Season-High Against Mercy Culture Prep

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fellowship Academy). They blew past the Mercy Culture Prep Royals 18-5 on Friday. Considering the Mustangs have won five games by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Khylee Webber made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 14 over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Taitym Rankin, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, five RBI, and one run. Neela Houston was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Fellowship Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Fellowship Academy has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Mercy Culture Prep, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-7.
