Softball Game Preview: Sussex Central Tigers vs. Southampton Indians

Sussex Central hasn't had much luck against Southampton recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Tigers will head out to take on the Indians at 4:30 p.m. Sussex Central has given up an average of 12.9 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

It was a proper cat-fight when Sussex Central faced off against Surry County on Tuesday. The Tigers came up short against the Cougars, falling 20-6. The Tigers' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Lunenburg Central hit Southampton with a five-run fifth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Indians lost 10-0 to the Chargers. The game marked the first time this year in which the Indians were not able to get on the board.

Sussex Central's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Southampton, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-3.

Sussex Central suffered a grim 21-0 defeat to Southampton in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
