Softball Game Preview: Northwestern Tigers vs. Eastbrook Panthers

Northwestern is 0-4 against Eastbrook since May of 2015 but things could change on Wednesday. The Tigers will host the Panthers at 5:00 p.m.

Northwestern is headed into Wednesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game dating back to last season on Tuesday. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-4 heartbreaker at the hands of Oak Hill.

Northwestern saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addy Clark, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Eastbrook had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Bluffton a 10-0 shutout. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won four in a row.

Alyvia Pumroy was incredible, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Gracie Elliott, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one double.

Northwestern might still be hurting after the 9-0 defeat they got from Eastbrook in their previous meeting back in May of 2023. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
