Baseball Recap: Bishop McLaughlin Catholic Gets the Win

It's playoff time, and Bishop McLaughlin Catholic had no trouble coming through when it counted. They had just enough and edged out the Berkeley Prep Buccaneers 5-4 on Monday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Hurricanes.

Elvys Quezada made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Bishop McLaughlin Catholic is 4-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 12-14 otherwise. Quezada was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Aiden Fox was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four stolen bases and two runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jacob Boyd, who went 1-for-3 with four RBI and one stolen base.

Bishop McLaughlin Catholic now has a winning record of 16-15. As for Berkeley Prep, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 23-9.

Bishop McLaughlin Catholic will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Buccaneers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
