Cooperstown falls despite strong effort from Charlie Lambert

Recap: Cooperstown Hawkeyes vs. Sherburne-Earlville Marauders

The Cooperstown Hawkeyes were the 67-53 winner over the Sherburne-Earlville Marauders when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Cooperstown fell to Sherburne-Earlville 54-50. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Cooperstown came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 257th, while Sherburne-Earlville is ranked 530th).

Despite the loss, Cooperstown still got an impressive performance from Charlie Lambert, who scored 17 points along with six assists and six steals. Lambert is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Cooper Bradley was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with eight rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for Cooperstown and nudges their season record down to 7-6. As for Sherburne-Earlville, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-6.

Cooperstown will take on Sauquoit Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Sherburne-Earlville, they will head out on the road to take on Clinton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
