Softball Game Preview: Avon Braves vs. Honeoye Falls-Lima Cougars

The Avon Braves will head out to square off against the Honeoye Falls-Lima Cougars at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Avon barely beat Livonia the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Braves blew past the Bulldogs 9-2 on Monday. The victory continues a trend for the Braves in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won five in a row.

Jessie Crye was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 19 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than 13 strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-5 with two runs and one double.

In other batting news, Abby Schutz and Kyleigh DeRider did most of the damage at the plate: Schutz went 3-for-4 with three runs and one RBI, while DeRider went 2-for-3 with four RBI and one double. That's the most hits Schutz has posted since back in April. Rylie Miller was another key player, going 1-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Honeoye Falls-Lima got themselves on the board against Canandaigua Academy on Monday, but Canandaigua Academy never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 16-0 margin over the Braves. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cougars.

Honeoye Falls-Lima now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Avon, their record is now 12-3.
