Basketball Recap: Temecula Prep Comes Up Short

If Temecula Prep was riding high fresh off their 60-36 takedown of Mountain View last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Temecula Prep Patriots took a hard 78-60 fall against the Elsinore Tigers on Friday.

Leading Elsinore to victory were Brandon Boatman and Ladarian Watkins. Boatman went 10 of 20 en route to 27 points and seven steals, while Watkins went 9 of 10 on his way to 19 points. Those 19 points gave Watkins a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Nasir Bates, who posted 15 points along with eight rebounds and six assists.

Temecula Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 12-5. As for Elsinore, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-8.

Temecula Prep and Elsinore should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Temecula Prep (ranked 444th) will meet California Military Institute (ranked 975th) at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Similarly, Elsinore (ranked 486th) will meet Tahquitz (ranked 1295th) at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
