Baseball Recap: Liberty Comes Up Short

Liberty was the 8-4 winner over Meridian when they last played one another back in May of 2025, but their luck changed this time around. The Eagles fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday.

Ryan Watt was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits.

At the plate, Liberty saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tyson Schrum, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Liberty's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Meridian, they pushed their record up to 4-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.

Coming up, Liberty will challenge Handley at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles are facing the Judges at the right time seeing as the Judges are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Meridian, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Skyline at 6:30 p.m.
