Volleyball Recap: Itasca Takes a Loss

Itasca lost against Rio Vista back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Wampus Cats lost 3-0 to the Eagles. The Wampus Cats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

The final score came out to 25-18, 25-16, 25-17.

Jaelyn Marshall paced Itasca's offense, picking up four kills. Marshall got some help from Rylee Markwardt and her eight assists.

Rio Vista was led to victory by Emma Niemtschk and Kyndal Cooley. Niemtschk had 19 assists, while Cooley had nine digs and two aces. Niemtschk is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 14 or more in each of the last six games she's played.

Itasca's loss dropped their record down to 12-11. As for Rio Vista, they pushed their record up to 22-9 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home.

Itasca has already played their next match, a 3-0 defeat against Italy on the 7th. As for Rio Vista, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-1 victory against Axtell on the 7th.
