Preview: Rowe Warriors vs. Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North Raiders
After two games on the road, Rowe is heading back home. They will take on The Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North Raiders at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Rowe will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 873rd, while Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North is ranked 95th).
After soaring to 54 points the game before, Rowe were a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They were beaten by McAllen Memorial 35-7. Rowe was down 21-0 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Meanwhile, Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North put another one in the bag two Thursdays ago to keep their undefeated season alive. They claimed a resounding 55-0 victory over Palmview at home.
Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jason Montez, who rushed for 116 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries. Montez is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last six games he's played. Jaden Fuentes was another key contributor, rushing for 102 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries.
Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North's victory bumped their season record to 6-0 while Rowe's loss dropped theirs to 3-3.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Rowe has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 226.3 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North struggles in that department as they've been even better at 319.2 per game. It's looking like Friday's match might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Rowe took a serious blow against Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North when the teams last played back in October of 2022, falling 63-14. Will Rowe have more luck at home instead of on the road?
