Softball Recap: Dunlap Victorious

Dunlap took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Illini Bluffs, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Eagles had just enough and edged out the Tigers 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Eagles have posted since May 17, 2024.

Sutton Centoni spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Gabby Drake was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season.

The win made it two in a row for Dunlap and bumps their season record up to 6-3. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Illini Bluffs, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Coming up, Dunlap will head out on the road to challenge Rochester at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Illini Bluffs, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 5-2 win against Deer Creek-Mackinaw on the 3rd.
