Mapleton extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to five on Monday, dropping them down to 0-3. They lost 9-3 to the New London Wildcats. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Mounties of the 18-9 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2025.

Bentley Workman and Gabe Wrobleski were huge no matter where they played even without the win. Throwing, Workman pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Wrobleski pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in May of 2025. At bat, Workman got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one double, while Wrobleski went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs. Wrobleski has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Lukus Jenkins, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
As for New London, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won three games by six runs or more so far this season.
On New London's side, Landon Harrison spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brody Sword, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Oliver Harrison, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
While Mapleton had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
