Basketball Game Preview: GV Christian Guardians vs. Lincoln County Lynx

GV Christian hasn't had much luck against Lincoln County recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The GV Christian Guardians will square off against the Lincoln County Lynx at 5:00 p.m.

GV Christian is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a 67-17 loss at the hands of Needles. While losing is never fun, the Guardians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 75th in Nevada, while the Mustangs are ranked 18th in California).

Despite the defeat, GV Christian had strong showings from Samantha Charron, who posted 11 points and five boards, and Alyssa Bound, who had no points. That was a full 64.7% of GV Christian's points, marking the sixth time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points.

Meanwhile, Lincoln County entered their tilt with White Pine on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victor by a 52-32 margin over the Bobcats. The Lynx have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 games by 20 points or more this season.

Lincoln County is also on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a massive bump to their 14-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 22.4 points per game. As for GV Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 10-14.

GV Christian was dealt a bruising 50-22 defeat at the hands of Lincoln County when the teams last played on January 14th. Can GV Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
