Football Recap: Monroeville Comes Up Short

If Monroeville was riding high fresh off their 46-20 takedown of McComb last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Eagles received a blow on Friday as they fell 35-21 to the Calvert Senecas. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Senecas apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Calvert to victory, but perhaps none more so than Charlie Palm, who threw for 224 yards and a pair of TDs, and also punched in one touchdown on the ground. Palm also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, picking up a sack and making two total tackles. Another big playmaker for Calvert was Logan DeMoss, who returned a punt for a touchdown.

Monroeville's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Calvert, the win also got them back to even at 1-1.

Looking ahead, Monroeville will head out on the road to face off against Seneca East at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Calvert, they will face off against St. Paul at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
