Football Recap: Lakewood Comes Up Short

Friday just wasn't the day for Lakewood's offense. They were outmatched by the Fountain-Fort Carson Trojans and fell 51-0. The Tigers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Trojans from their previous meeting back in September of 2024.

Kasten Steinke threw for 83 yards on ten of 22 attempts. Shukrani Bumba Masela was his top target, picking up 62 receiving yards.

Fountain-Fort Carson was led to victory by Da'Kari Releford Jr and Jaylen Martin. Releford Jr rushed for 147 yards and three TDs on only eight carries, while Martin rushed for 70 yards and one score on only five carries. Releford Jr is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 106 every time he's taken the field this season.

Lakewood's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Fountain-Fort Carson, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-1.

Lakewood has already played their next matchup, a 41-7 defeat against Golden on the 26th. As for Fountain-Fort Carson, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Douglas County at 7:00 p.m. on October 3. This will be the Trojans' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
