Softball Recap: Milford Comes Up Short

Milford dropped their record down to 4-4 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 15-3 to the Polytech Panthers. If the Buccaneers were looking for revenge after losing 4-0 to the Panthers when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Adri Fountain was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.

As for Polytech, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-2. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by six runs or more this season.

On Polytech's side, they got a great performance from Madison Frazier as she tossed five innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits.

At the plate, Polytech let Emma Shelton and Riley Brown run wild. Shelton went 2-for-4 with two triples, four RBI, and two runs, while Brown went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave Brown a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Keira Fendt, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Milford will venture away from home to face off against Seaford at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Polytech, they will face off against Woodbridge at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday.
