Basketball Recap: Mardela Makes It Six in a Row at Home

Mardela had won five straight home games and Darion Collins did his part to make it six on Monday. The Mardela Warriors blew past the North Dorchester Eagles 82-62 thanks in part to Collins, who dropped a double-double on 30 points and 15 boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Mardela's points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Zyair Johnson, who went 9 of 13 en route to 21 points in addition to eight assists and four steals. Those 21 points gave him a new career-high.

Mardela's victory bumped their record up to 11-5. As for North Dorchester, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Mardela and Pocomoke will face off at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday without much rest having both just played. Mardela has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for North Dorchester, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Queen Anne's County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
