Softball Game Preview: Benet Academy Redwings vs. Plainfield North Tigers

The Benet Academy Redwings will square off against the Plainfield North Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Benet Academy will bounce into Tuesday's game after beating Providence Catholic, who they had gone 0-3 against in their three prior meetings. The Redwings came out on top against the Celtics by a score of 8-4 on Monday.

Sophia Rosner was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs.

In other batting news, Gianna Cunningham was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sophia Kowal, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Plainfield North was able to grind out a solid win over Bolingbrook on Monday, taking the game 6-3. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Raiders recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Benet Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-15 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Plainfield North, their victory bumped their record up to 11-16.
