Volleyball Game Preview: Riverside-Durham Pirates vs. Hillside Hornets + How To Watch

The Riverside-Durham Pirates will head out to challenge the Hillside Hornets at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Riverside-Durham will be strutting in after a victory while Hillside will be coming in after a loss.

Riverside-Durham proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by three) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Felton Grove 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Pirates have posted since August 18th.

Riverside-Durham wouldn't go down easily and took Felton Grove into a fifth set where they got it done with a eight-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-11, 16-25, 13-25, 25-21, 15-7.

Nureen Khan produced another solid performance getting 18 digs and two aces. She has been hot, having posted ten or more digs the last six times she's played.

Khan wasn't the only good servers: Riverside-Durham was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 16 aces. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their ace total in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Hillside was not able to break out of their rough patch last Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They came up short against Northern Durham, falling 3-0.

Hillside couldn't get the win, but they sure gave Northern Durham a tough time in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 30-28, 25-11, 25-17.

Hillside's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Riverside-Durham, their victory bumped their record up to 10-5.

Riverside-Durham took their win against Hillside in their previous matchup back in September by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
