Cedar Springs proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by six) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. Their defense stepped up to hand St. Francis a 1-0 shutout.

Meanwhile, Sparta got their first taste of in-conference action on Thursday and they started things off strong. They blew past Comstock Park 3-0. That looming 3-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Sparta yet this season.

Cedar Springs' victory bumped their record up to 12-4-1. As for Sparta, their win bumped their record up to 3-11-1.

Cedar Springs took their victory against Sparta when the teams last played on September 3rd by a conclusive 8-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Red Hawks since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
