Softball Recap: Wilcox Takes a Loss

Wilcox had lost three straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 7-15 to make it four. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Los Altos Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 back in March.

Tyler Scott spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on four hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Wilcox saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Evelyn Carter, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

As for Los Altos, they now have a winning record of 10-9. The win was some much needed relief for they as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

On Los Altos' side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Kaylyn Cox gave up just two earned runs on five hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Makayla Mase, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Monica Oseguera also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Wilcox didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 15-1 victory against Gunn on the 6th. As for Los Altos, they have also already played their next game, a 5-2 win against Mountain View on the 6th.
