Basketball Recap: Eaton Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Eaton won the last time they faced Fort Morgan and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Eaton Reds took down the Fort Morgan Mustangs 59-40. Given the Reds' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 108th, while the Mustangs are ranked 237th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Eaton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Crew Haythorn led the charge by going 6-for-14 on his way to 15 points and seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Noah Sprinkle, who went 5-for-7 en route to 13 points and seven boards.

When it comes to explaining why Fort Morgan lost, don't look at Brodin Jess. Despite the final result, he posted nine points. The dominant performance also gave Jess a new career-high in three-point shooting accuracy (67%). JJ Marquez was another key player, going 5-for-7 to rack up 12 points.

The victory was the third in a row for Eaton, bringing their record for this year to 8-8. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.7 points over those games. As for Fort Morgan, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 11 matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season.

Eaton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 57-48 win against Sterling on the 6th. As for Fort Morgan, they have also already played their next game, a 60-37 loss against University on the 6th.
