Basketball Recap: Northwood's Winning Streak Snapped at Seven Games

After flying high against Bolton Academy last Tuesday, Northwood came back down to earth. The Northwood Gators fell just short of the Montgomery Tigers by a score of 47-44 on Thursday. The Gators' defeat signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.

Several Gators players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Landon Tinsley, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 17 rebounds. The contest was Tinsley's ninth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jahari Mccoy, who posted 11 points in addition to five boards and four steals.

Northwood's loss ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 7-2. As for Montgomery, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.

Northwood will welcome Jena at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Northwood's defense has only allowed 29.6 points per game this season, so Jena's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Montgomery, they will be taking part in a tournament against Alexandria at 6:30 p.m. on December 27th.
