Preview: Hanks Knights vs. Midland Bulldogs

The Hanks Knights will be home for the holidays to greet the Midland Bulldogs at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Hanks focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 35 on Tuesday.

After a string of three wins, Hanks' good fortune finally ran out. They suffered a rough 54-33 defeat at the hands of Chapin. Hanks has struggled against Chapin recently, as their match on Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Hanks had strong showings from Sebastian Meraz, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and three steals, and Israel Gonzalez, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds. Gonzalez scored a full 36.4% of Hanks' points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.

Meanwhile, even though Lubbock scored an imposing 55 points on Tuesday, Midland still came out on top. Midland managed a 59-55 victory over Lubbock. Given Midland's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 476th, while Lubbock is ranked 959th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Hanks' loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-7. As for Midland, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season.
