Basketball Recap: Dade Christian Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Victory

Dade Christian extended their winning streak to five on Wednesday, bumping them up to 5-0. They blew past the Monsignor Pace Spartans 73-49. The contest was close at halftime, but the Warriors turned on the heat in the second half with 46 points.

Dade Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Gabriel Alonso led the charge by putting up 25 points in addition to five boards and three steals. Alonso's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Nikola Mirkovic, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds.

Dade Christian was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive games.

As for Monsignor Pace, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat they have suffered since November 23, 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Monsignor Pace lost, don't look at Andres Lopez. Despite the final result, he went 8-for-16 en route to 22 points and three steals. Lopez is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Teagan Jordan, who posted six points.

Looking ahead, Dade Christian will be playing at home against Archbishop Carroll at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Monsignor Pace, they will head out to take on Marathon at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Spartans' defense better be ready for this one: the Dolphins have averaged an impressive 58 points per game this season.
