Softball Recap: Six Straight Home Victories for Riverdale

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Blackman, Riverdale was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over the Siegel Stars. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Warriors have posted against the Stars since April 7, 2022.

Lauren Brewer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Bella Waldrop, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Payton Hurst, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Riverdale pushed their record up to 9-11 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Siegel, they now have a losing record of 8-9-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Riverdale will square off against Rockvale at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Siegel, they will challenge Gordonsville at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. The Stars have a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with five straight losses, while the Tigers will come in with 13 straight wins.
