Softball Recap: Bogue Chitto Bobcats vs. Lawrence County Cougars

Bogue Chitto extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to eight on Thursday, dropping them down to 0-2. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-8 heartbreaker at the hands of the Lawrence County Cougars. The Bobcats were not able to make up for their loss to the Cougars from their previous meeting back in March of 2025.

Jonna Claire Roberts was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single walk, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in February of 2025. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one run.

In other batting news, Abigail Holder and Raylee Chisolm stepped up to the plate in a big way. Holder went 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run, while Chisolm went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
