Softball Recap: Bassick Comes Up Short

Bassick had lost 11 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 0-8-1 to make it 12. They lost 21-2 to the Wolcott RVT Wildcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 25-7 on Tuesday.

As for Wolcott RVT, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-10. Considering they have won seven matchups by more than 11 runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

For Wolcott RVT's part, the team relied heavily on Brooke Curtis, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs. Those four stolen bases gave Curtis a new career-high.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bassick will venture away from home to challenge Wilbur Cross at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. The Governors have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.69 runs per game on average), something the Lions will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Wolcott RVT, they will head out on the road to take on Vinal RVT at 3:45 p.m. on Monday.
