Basketball Game Preview: Bellevue West Thunderbirds vs. Kearney Bearcats

The Bellevue West Thunderbirds will challenge the Kearney Bearcats at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

On Thursday, Bellevue West came up short against Lincoln North Star and fell 54-43. The Thunderbirds have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, after a string of 11 wins, Kearney's good fortune finally ran out last Thursday. They were dealt a 43-16 loss at the hands of Lincoln North Star. The game marked the Bearcats' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Kearney's defeat dropped their record down to 14-2. As for Bellevue West, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-8.

Bellevue West strolled past Kearney when the teams last played back in January of 2024 by a score of 63-49. Will Bellevue West repeat their success, or does Kearney have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
