Basketball Recap: Eli Roof's Big Game Can't Quite Lead East Rutherford over Patton

East Rutherford lost against Patton back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The East Rutherford Cavaliers fell to the Patton Panthers 60-56.

East Rutherford's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Eli Roof, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 boards. The dominant performance also gave Roof a new career-high in assists (four). Andre Staley was another key player, putting up 17 points.

Even though they lost, East Rutherford smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in nine consecutive games.

East Rutherford has traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 13 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season. As for Patton, their record is now 8-12.

East Rutherford will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Hendersonville at 8:00 p.m. Patton has already played their next contest (against R-S Central), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
