Recap: Fountain-Fort Carson Trojans vs. Chaparral Wolverines
There's no place like home for The Fountain-Fort Carson Trojans, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Chaparral 35-6 at home. The result was nothing new for Fountain-Fort Carson, who have now won four contests by 29 points or more so far this season.
Fountain-Fort Carson got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Mathias Price out in front who rushed for 263 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.8 yards per carry. Price is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Kaleb Keits , who rushed for 109 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries.
Fountain-Fort Carson's victory was their sixth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 7-2. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-9 Chaparral and 1-8 Highlands Ranch (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 36% over those games). As for Chaparral, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fountain-Fort Carson will take on Regis Jesuit at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Albert Medina and Price. As for Chaparral, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Pine Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Pine Creek presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Chaparral in Colorado (Pine Creek is ranked fifth, while Chaparral is ranked 113th).
