Baseball Recap: Hume-Fogg Drops Highest Score of Season Against Maplewood

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hume-Fogg). They put the hurt on the Maplewood Panthers with a sharp 19-1 win on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Blue Knights in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won nine in a row.

Jonathon Kleinstick made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted over his last seven matches.

In other batting news, Hume-Fogg got a massive performance out of Buren Bradley, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Bradley is becoming a predictor of the Blue Knights' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 6-14 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Austin Sandberg, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Hume-Fogg was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .556. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Hume-Fogg's record is now 12-14. As for Maplewood, their defeat was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-11.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Hume-Fogg beat the Panthers by a score of 12-2 later that day.
