Soccer Game Preview: Vail Mountain vs. Battle Mountain + How To Watch

Vail Mountain hasn't had much luck against Battle Mountain recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Rangers will head out on the road to take on the Huskies at 6:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty goal totals in their previous games.

Vail Mountain barely beat Basalt the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Rangers never let the Longhorns get on the board and left with a 6-0 win on Thursday. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Vail Mountain's offense was hitting Basalt from everywhere, as five different players booted in a goal. Calvin Schaffler led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by himself.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Battle Mountain, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They walked away with a 4-2 victory over Eagle Valley on Friday. The final result isn't all that surprising considering Battle Mountain's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado soccer rankings (they are ranked 13th, while Eagle Valley are ranked 67th).

Battle Mountain is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That lines up perfectly with their 8-2-2 record this season. Vail Mountain's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-9.

Vail Mountain suffered a grim 5-1 defeat to Battle Mountain when the teams last played back in October of 2024. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Rangers were down 4-0.
