Baseball Game Preview: Duncan Wildkats vs. Lordsburg Mavericks

The Duncan Wildkats will take on the Lordsburg Mavericks at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Duncan is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Willcox just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Monday. They wound up with the same score they had in their last game (10-2), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.

Duncan saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isaac Harris, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Lordsburg came up short against Magdalena on Saturday, falling 13-3. The Mavericks haven't had much luck with the Steers recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Lordsburg's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Duncan, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Duncan has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Lordsburg struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 5.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Duncan might still be hurting after the 11-5 defeat they got from Lordsburg in their previous meeting back in March of 2018. Can the Wildkats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
