Baseball Recap: Sidney Drops Season-High Score on Stebbins

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sidney). Everything went their way against the Stebbins Indians on Thursday as they made off with a 15-5 win. The Yellowjackets haven't had any issues with the Indians recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Ethan New was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. New was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Michael Frazier looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Back at the plate, Sidney got a massive performance out of Jordan Shipe, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli McKenzie, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his six plate appearances.

Sidney always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Sidney's win bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Stebbins, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Coming up, Sidney will be playing in front of their home fans against Butler at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Aviators will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Yellowjackets surely won't give up without a fight. As for Stebbins, they will head out to square off against Greenville at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Indians are facing the Green Wave at the right time seeing as the Green Wave are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
