Lawrence Central had lost three straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 3-13 to make it four. They took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lawrence North Wildcats. The Bears were not able to make up for their defeat to the Wildcats from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Sophia Ruschhaupt was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She tossed seven innings while giving up four earned (and five unearned) runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Ruschhaupt wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kaitlyn Criss, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Another was Isis Duszynski, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

As for Lawrence North, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games.
