Baseball Game Preview: El Diamante Miners vs. Redwood Rangers

El Diamante is 0-10 against Redwood since May of 2022 but things could change on Thursday. The Miners will be playing in front of their home fans against the Rangers at 5:30 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

El Diamante is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Porterville on Monday as they made off with an 11-2 victory. The Miners not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since May 8, 2024 (when they won 13-4).

Eli Palomino spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on two hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Noah Pena was a standout: he got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. El Diamante is 2-1 when Pena posts two or more runs, but 8-13-1 otherwise. D'Angelo Dalle Mese was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

El Diamante kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Meanwhile, Redwood had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Monday. They put the hurt on the Trailblazers with a sharp 11-5 win.

Redwood's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-7. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for El Diamante, their victory bumped their record up to 10-14-1.
