Stanton County won the last time they faced Springfield and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Stanton County Trojans put the hurt on the Springfield Longhorns with a sharp 58-38 win. The Trojans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 20 points or more this season.
David Crane was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 19 points and ten rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last six games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Gerardo Robles, who dropped a double-double with ten points and ten rebounds.
Stanton County was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Springfield only posted four assists.
Despite the loss, Springfield still got an impressive performance from Colby Batterton, who posted nine points along with six boards and four steals. What's more, Batterton also racked up three assists, the most he's had since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Coltin Woodhouse, who scored nine points.
Stanton County's victory bumped their record up to 12-4. As for Springfield, their loss dropped their record down to 7-10.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Stanton County will take on Wichita County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Stanton County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.9 points per game this season. As for Springfield, they will face off against Cheraw at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
