Basketball Recap: Cienna Witcher's Big Game Can't Quite Lead San Tan Foothills over Benjamin Franklin

San Tan Foothills lost against Benjamin Franklin back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The San Tan Foothills Sabercats took a hard 56-41 fall against the Benjamin Franklin Chargers. The Sabercats' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row.

San Tan Foothills lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Cienna Witcher, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten boards. Witcher has become a key player for San Tan Foothills: the team is 2-1 when she posts at least eight rebounds, but 3-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashleigh Hanson, who posted seven points along with eight rebounds and five steals.

Madelyn Falls continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Benjamin Franklin, putting up 31 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which Falls has scored at least a third of Benjamin Franklin's points. Celest Chege was another key player, posting six points.

San Tan Foothills' defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Benjamin Franklin, they moved to 7-9 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

San Tan Foothills will be playing in front of their home fans against Gilbert Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Gilbert Christian will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something San Tan Foothills surely won't give up without a fight. As for Benjamin Franklin, they will venture away from home to face off against Horizon Honors at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant forwards against one another: Falls and Audriana Anglada.
